PhotoTherapy (PhotoTherapy Techniques)
Clinical phototherapy is the therapeutic use of photographic images to support psychic work, not to be confused with the light exposure used for seasonal disorders. Unlike classical art therapy, the photograph used is not necessarily produced in session or for therapy (often pre-existing personal photos). Judy Weiser codified five techniques (photos taken by the client, photos taken of the client, self-portraits, family memory photos, projections), each giving access to a facet of subjectivity. Born around two North American centres (Vancouver and Ohio), it belongs to the field of psychotherapies through artistic mediation.
